Brainiac strikes once again! This time he brainwashed the most prominent members of the Justice League, including Superman and Batman, and threatens to take control over not just the city of Metropolis, but the entire world! A squad of unlikely heroes is assembled to put an end to this threat.
Who makes up this special team, you might ask? Supervillains! Hand-picked by Amanda Waller, the members of the Suicide Squad are Harley Quinn, King Shark, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang. They would love to go back to some evil-doing, but their necks are rigged with explosives. The moment they try something funny, they go boom. So, they can survive if they play along nicely (and don’t let themselves get killed while at it).
And if you’re eager for some more name dropping, here are other characters who you will encounter during the game (skip this section if you want to be surprised): the Penguin, the Riddler, a reincarnated version of Poison Ivy, Lex Luthor, Gizmo, The Flash, Green Lantern, and others. By the way, the game features the final performance by the late Kevin Conroy, who passed away in 2022.
Gameplay-wise, since it’s a spin-off of the Batman: Arkham series, you can expect open-world exploration of the city of Metropolis. There’s plenty of stuff to find, things to do, and baddies to take out.
One major difference from the Arkham games is the fact that this one’s made for co-operation: you can play with friends, each controlling one of the Suicide Squad members. Naturally, you can go solo, switching between the characters as you see fit. There are also skill trees. If you feel like trying out a different build, you can totally re-spec.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is planned for a February 2, 2024 release. Get ready to kick some brainwashed butts!
