Fighters and Rangers get a full-on glow-up in Avowed’s latest 1.5 patch, and that’s just the beginning of exciting changes to Obsidian’s globally beloved RPG!
The recent Obsidian patch for Avowed is all about making the game better and more balanced. From new fighter and ranger class abilities, to enemy combat updates and Steam Deck Support, this gameplay overhaul is exactly what players have been waiting for. Here’s everything you need to know about this major Avowed update!
Avowed Reinvents Fighter and Ranger Classes in Major Gameplay Update
Ranger and Fighter Classes – New Abilities and Passives
Previously imbalanced (especially compared to the Wizard class), the Ranger and Fighter received new active abilities and passives for greater versatility in their builds. Now, the game offers better RPG balance so that you can try out exciting new skills, including:
- Ranger Active Abilities: Shadow Step, Fan of Daggers, Smoke Bomb, Chilling Surprise.
- Ranger Passive Skills: Concussive Shot, Sharpshooter, Deadly Poison.
- Fighter Active Abilities: Driving Kick, Barbaric Smash, Deep Breath, Reviving Exhortation.
- Fighter Passive Skills: Dual Wield Mastery, Adrenaline, Bloodlust, Vanguard.
New Weapons
As Obsidian shared in their Patch 1.5 notes, “We found that players were not able to play specific builds that they wanted to early on in the game. So, we added more unique gear through these regions to assist with that.” As a result, players can now explore the game’s four regions in search of unique items for all weapon types except daggers.
Enemy Improvements
While these changes may suggest the developer aims to simplify the experience, new enemy updates maintain a reasonable difficulty level. Therefore, several opponents received player skills, like Ring of Fire or Blizzard. Enemies can also use new types of barriers, including physical and magical ones, making these encounters even more unpredictable!
More Changes
Apart from the already mentioned improvements, Avowed is now Steam Deck Verified! Players can also enjoy improved Cooking and Crafting, enhanced quests and dialogue options, massive combat fixes, and the game’s availability in Japanese and Korean. There are also many bug fixes, performance enhancements, polished animations, and more.
Since Obsidian is taking post-demo community feedback to heart, we can expect more regular updates in the future. As the official Avowed Roadmap reveals, the title will receive the next major gameplay overhaul this fall.
There’s plenty to look forward to, as the upcoming patch will include groundbreaking improvements like a New Game Plus mode, Photo Mode, a new weapon type, changing world appearance, new character presets, and more Godlike feature presets. Although Obsidian hasn’t yet shared sales figures for Avowed, it’s clear that this community-developer collaboration promises a bright future for both!
