Because of course it does. We knew it would for months now. We also knew that it wasn’t going to have a campaign. Because of course it wouldn’t.
They call this truly Frankenstein amalgam of terror a “crazy collision of fun”. Now how exactly they intend to distill 10 years worth of CoD into a balanced playground I have no idea, but then again neither did professor Frankenstein when he decided to run an electric current through a pile of stitched corpses, so I can only summarize they’ll be cackling manically “it lives!” at launch day.
I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt though, because this presentation has this sense of “all you PUBGs and Fortnites are cute and all, but this is how the big boys do it” which, hey, I can respect that. I can also laugh at how cringey it is. At the very least, they’re trying to sell us the idea that this is not just trends-chasing, but a genuine attempt to do something different with the formula.
I can only hope they know what they’re doing and it’s not gonna blow up in their faces. And that they’re not planning to release the campaign as a DLC and pretend that’s their way of “listening to their fans”. <sigh> They’re totally going to do that aren’t they?
CoD4: Black Ops 4 comes out on October 12th. Have your pitchforks ready, but do try to stay positive alright?
