It’s not often that Steam’s Top Seller chart features something overwhelmingly wholesome, but the new RPG from developer LEVEL5 Inc. bucks that trend, gaining popularity shortly before its release.
The original Fantasy Life only launched for Nintendo 3DS back in 2012 (or 2014 outside Japan), but the sequel, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a multiplatform release coming to both Nintendo Switches (to Switch 2, obviously after the console itself launches), PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S and, indeed, PC.
The sequel certainly brings back the original’s cute, friendly art style. It also keeps its life simulation-type playstyle, this time featuring 14 (rather than the original’s 12) different lives/jobs the customizable character can switch between as needed.
Clearly, the appeal is there, as the game hopped onto Steam’s Top Sellers chart, at the time of writing enjoying a very respectable 2nd spot in the global charts (4th in the United States), which is pretty good for a game many people wouldn’t even have heard about.
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time worldwide release date comes on May 21, but those who pre-ordered were given a bit of advance access, as well as a few helpful items.
