CONTROL Resonant has officially gone gold more than a month before launch. Remedy Entertainment says the digital release remains locked for September 24, 2026, but players waiting for a physical copy will have to hold out until October 15.
Digital release: September 24, 2026
Physical release: October 15, 2026
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Estimated campaign: Around 30 hours, up to roughly 50 for completionists
Remedy Entertainment has reached one of the biggest milestones on the road to CONTROL Resonant.
The sequel to the critically acclaimed 2019 game has officially gone gold, meaning the main release build has reached the stage where it is ready for distribution and manufacturing. With the digital launch still scheduled for September 24, the chances of a last-minute software delay have become considerably smaller.
There is one catch. The physical edition will not arrive alongside the digital version.
CONTROL Resonant Has Gone Gold
Remedy announced the milestone on August 18, confirming that CONTROL Resonant has gone gold ahead of its September 24 launch.
In game development, going gold traditionally means that the release candidate has been approved and is ready to move into distribution. It is an important sign that the project is on schedule.
That does not mean development completely stops. Remedy can still work on bug fixes, optimization, and a potential launch-day update between now and release.
What it does mean is that the September 24 digital launch now looks firmly on track.
CONTROL Resonant launches digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. GeForce NOW support is also planned at launch, while the Mac version is scheduled to follow later in 2026.

CONTROL Resonant Physical Edition Delayed to October 15
The bad news is reserved for collectors and players who prefer discs.
Remedy says the physical release has moved from September 24 to October 15, 2026. That creates a three-week gap between the digital and physical launches.
The studio did not announce a development problem with the game itself. Instead, Remedy simply said it needs a little more time to deliver the physical version.
The delay could be particularly frustrating for players trying to avoid spoilers. Digital buyers will have three weeks with the game before boxed copies become available.
PlayStation 5 players purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition can get in even earlier, as that version includes 48 hours of early access.
Which CONTROL Resonant Editions Are Affected?
Remedy previously announced two physical console editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The physical SteelBook Edition includes the base game, a SteelBook case, three fine art prints, and a key art poster.
The digital Standard Edition is priced at $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99, while the Digital Deluxe and SteelBook editions are priced at $69.99 / €69.99 / £59.99, subject to regional pricing.
CONTROL Resonant Is Much Bigger Than the Original
The delay news arrives shortly after Remedy revealed just how much larger the sequel is expected to be.
Lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov estimates that the core CONTROL Resonant experience will take around 30 hours. Players going after optional activities and completion could spend closer to 50 hours.
That makes Resonant considerably longer than the original CONTROL.
You can read more about those estimates in our CONTROL Resonant playtime report.
What Is Changing in CONTROL Resonant?
CONTROL Resonant is not simply another trip through the Oldest House.
Jesse Faden’s brother Dylan becomes the playable protagonist, while the setting expands into a warped Manhattan affected by a new supernatural crisis. Jesse is missing, leaving Dylan to work with the FBC while searching for his sister.
The combat is also changing dramatically.
Dylan uses the Aberrant, a supernatural weapon capable of transforming into different melee forms, including heavy and faster close-range configurations. Remedy is combining these weapons with Dylan’s paranatural abilities and a deeper RPG progression system.
The world is built around large, distinct zones containing side activities, hidden encounters, optional discoveries, and Gravity Anomalies that can completely alter orientation and traversal.
Despite being a direct sequel, Remedy says newcomers will not need to finish CONTROL first. Resonant includes a recap of the previous game, although knowing Jesse and Dylan’s history should provide additional context.

When does the physical edition release?

Containment Successful, Shipping Slightly Less So
Going gold more than a month before release is good news for anyone planning to enter Remedy’s warped Manhattan digitally on September 24.
The three-week physical delay is less welcome, especially for collectors who now face a much longer wait while digital players begin uncovering the game’s story.
Still, the most important part of the announcement is clear: CONTROL Resonant itself is finished, the digital launch remains on schedule, and Dylan Faden’s paranatural nightmare is now only weeks away.
