Overpass returns to CS2 Active Duty map pool as Anubis gets removed, signaling significant meta shifts.
The Counter-Strike 2 update takes players back to the Overpass grounds with a few new additions. The developer introduces Premier Season 3 along with a simultaneous update, which changes the Active Duty map pool. After Overpass was replaced by Train in April 2024, we’re returning to Germany after a year. But that’s not all, a few other changes have appeared too.
The new update brings a bigger challenge for players: the MP9 is being nerfed, which means it’s more difficult to aim, the recoil hits harder, and jumping accuracy isn’t as precise. As compensation, the incendiary grenade gets a buff – its fire will spread faster now.
A brief summary of the changes:
- The MP9 is nerfed with increased recoil, reduced accuracy, and decreased effectiveness while jumping
- Incendiary grenades are buffed to spread fire faster, improving control
- CT players now receive $50 per kill, shared across the team
- A new feature allows players to revoke item trades made within the last 7 days
There is a new feature for CTs. For eliminating each Terrorist, the reward will now be shared among the team – $50 per frag, regardless of whether the round is won. What’s more, a player-friendly addition is the ability to “revoke all Counter-Strike item trades from the last 7 days.”
The changes proposed by Valve keep gamers entertained. The MP9 nerf means CTs won’t be as strong in close-range fights, but better tools like buffed incendiary grenades allow players to “slow down enemy pushes and hold map control.” The most important thing is that the balance is maintained, and the game doesn’t lose its charm.
Overpass has always been super popular among CS2 fans. People liked how different it felt compared to other maps, but Velve ended up removing it from the map pool, primarily to keep things fresh and to give some love to other maps that needed work. Alongside all that, Valve’s also been working on better account protection. They recently rolled out new security features to help stop people losing their skins to hacks or scams. With how valuable some inventories are, it’s a much-needed change that should help players feel a bit safer.
