Fans of Cyberpunk 2077, get ready for a new way to immerse yourself in the world of Night City.

We already know that Cyberpunk 2 is in the making, but before it comes, we’ve got some exciting news to share. If you like card games, then consider yourself lucky, because we’re about to get one that’s set in the world of Cyberpunk.

Cyberpunk 2077 TCG Announcement

As revealed on x/twitter, CD Projekt RED will be joining forces with WeirdCo Games to bring us a Cyberpunk-themed card game, full of beautiful illustrations featuring well-known characters from Cyberpunk 2077 and the popular anime show Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming TCG.

Which Characters Will be Featured in Cyberpunk TCG?

The announcement on x/twitter mentioned that we’ll see familiar faces from both Cyberpunk 2077 and Edgerunners. It’s safe to assume that sooner or later, we’ll see the majority of characters we’ve met along the way, although the full list of cards that will be available on release remains unknown.

With that being said, it’s worth noting that in the trailer attached to the original post, we can already see cards for V, Judy Alvarez, Panam Palmer, Jackie Welles, Saburo Arasaka, Goro Takemura, and Lucyna Kushinada, along with several additional unit and gear cards. It’s safe to assume that at least the character cards shown in the trailer will be available right when the game launches, but we expect a lot more to come.

Depending on player reception and the scope of the project, we might even see additional expansion sets with new faces in the future.

Gameplay Mechanics in Cyberpunk TCG

So far, developers haven’t shared any details about the gameplay itself. We don’t know what kind of special mechanics – if any – the new game will use. We also don’t know how much strategy it will require or how easy it will be to get into as a beginner.

Judging from card descriptions, it’s possible that we’ll be using unit and character cards to fight the enemy cards, similar to how it is in many other popular card games.

We see several cards that mention terms such as “face-down” and “face-up”, meaning that we might see some inspiration from Yu-Gi-Oh, where cards can be placed face-down to add an element of surprise for the opponent.

We can also risk a guess that there might be some kind of alternative scoring system available, supported by the use of words “gigs” and “street creds” in card descriptions. Perhaps gaining enough “street creds” will be an alternative victory condition, as opposed to simply defeating all enemy units or dealing damage.

Whatever developers are cooking for us, let’s remember that we’re talking about the company that created Gwent, so we’ve got all the reasons to be excited.

We should get more news on gameplay mechanics and the ruleset in the following months, so keep an eye out for that.

Is Cyberpunk TCG Digital or Physical?

According to the official news, the newly announced trading card game will be available exclusively in physical form. Developers shared no plans to make a digital version of the game as of now.

It means that even if you’re not interested in the game itself, you’ll still be able to collect the cards and treat the new TCG as exactly this: a way of collecting immortalized versions of your favorite characters from the Cyberpunk franchise.

Cyberpunk Trading Card Game Release Date

As of now, the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is unknown. So far, we only know that the game will be a crowdfunded project and will begin a Kickstarter campaign in 2026 to gather the required funds.

It’s highly recommended to follow the news from the official channels if you want to keep an eye on the development process and stay up to date.

If you’re truly interested, you should also consider joining the mailing list, as it comes with one more special benefit, which is…

Join the Mailing Gift for an Extra Gift

If you join the mailing list on the official website, you’ll receive a free card, a Nova Rare version of Edgerunner’s Lucy.

We’re unsure whether there will be some extra requirements to get the card, though. It says on the website that signing up is required, but perhaps you’ll also have to back the Kickstarter campaign once it’s up. If all you needed to do was just join the newsletter, then it would sound a bit too good to be true.
