If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to get back into DRG Survivor, or a reason to check it out, now’s the time.
The bullet-heavenly spin-off from the dwarfiest co-op game on Steam keeps implementing the original game’s various biomes, and this time it’s the Azure Weald, a lovely, but no less dangerous location added in the latest update.
One of its big features is the lack of precious, HP-restoring Red Sugar, replaced by weird health-radiating crystals. Another biome-feature are bouncy platforms which can send you flying away (or straight into) danger.
There are also:
- new Glyphid varieties, including swarming exploding ones and a variant of Pretorians able to soak even more damage
- new artifacts to unlock
- new mission types, applying various rule-changing mutators and conditions
- a bunch of biome mastery missions
- miscellaneous fixes and balance tweaks
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a mission-based cousin to games such as Vampire Survivors. Instead of just trying to last for the entire duration of a mission, you’re gathering gear (by levelling up) and resources (by mining) across several stages before confronting the big boss at the end.
DRGS is currently in Early Access, but already offers an engaging experience with plenty of challenges.
