The Demolisher Class and Rock Dozer
At the center of the expansion is the Demolisher, the first completely new class added to the Survivor spin-off. Unlike traditional dwarven combat roles, the Demolisher trades mobility and finesse for overwhelming industrial power.
The class pilots a heavily armed mining vehicle called the Rock Dozer, turning every mission into a high-speed demolition operation.
Instead of simply holding the line against Hoxxes’ swarming alien threats, the Demolisher can crush enemies beneath its wheels while leaving a trail of destruction behind it. The design shifts the gameplay focus toward aggressive movement and battlefield control, essentially transforming the player into a rolling weapon platform.
Three Unique Class Mods
The class also features three unique class mods, each offering a different playstyle.
The Contractor mod emphasizes efficiency and industrial firepower, starting players with the Dragonstorm Incinerator, a flamethrower-style weapon that scorches enemies in the vehicle’s wake.
The Gridrunner focuses on speed and electrical devastation. It boosts weapon potency and equips players with the Twincoil Arcburster, a lightning-based weapon capable of chaining damage across swarms of enemies.
Meanwhile, the Operator leans into tactical control. It improves the lifetime of deployed units and begins with Slither Drones, kinetic drones that strike enemies in a serpentine formation. The Operator variant can also access the full suite of drone-based weapons.
New Weapons and Combat Tools
Beyond the new class, the Heavy Duty Expansion introduces a large collection of new weapons, many of which will also become available to other classes for players who own the DLC.
Among them are the Springloaded Ripper, which fires high-speed spinning saw blades, and the Carrier Drone, capable of deploying additional drones during combat.
The Dragonstorm Incinerator leaves a blazing trail behind the player, while the Twincoil Arc Burster unleashes rapid electrical projectiles that chain damage between enemies.
Other additions include the Kaisong Scissor Ray, sweeping kinetic beams that cut through enemies in wide arcs, and the Proximity Mine, a classic trap weapon that detonates when swarms approach.
Players will also gain access to chemical and electrical tools such as the Toxic Sludge Spreader, which creates corrosive zones on the battlefield, and the Voltaic Field Generator, electrifying the ground behind the Rock Dozer.
Additional weapons include the Slither Drones, the E1M1 Caustic Scattergun, and the Chimera Fragcannon, a weapon with branching upgrade paths that allow for explosive customization.
Additional Features Still to Be Revealed
Ghost Ship Games also teased that the Heavy Duty Expansion will contain two additional major features that have not yet been revealed. Details about these elements will be shared closer to the DLC’s release.
Free Update and New Game Mode
The expansion will arrive alongside a large free update that introduces a new game mode requested by the community, though developers have not yet revealed specifics about how it will work.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has been steadily expanding since its release, building on the popularity of the original cooperative shooter with a more action-driven, roguelite-inspired experience.
With the addition of the Demolisher and its Rock Dozer vehicle, the Heavy Duty Expansion looks set to deliver the most explosive gameplay update yet.
Rock and stone just got heavier.
