Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed the Warlock class, and it’s coming to three Diablo games! It launches now in Diablo II: Resurrected via the Reign of the Warlock $25 expansion, arrives in Diablo IV with Lord of Hatred on April 28. And it’s also planned for Diablo Immortal.

Did you know that it’s the first brand-new class added to Diablo 2 in 25 years? It gives us a completely new way to play a classic game! That’s amazing!

Warlock Class in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred Expansion

The Warlock joins Diablo IV in the Lord of Hatred expansion on April 28 for PC and consoles. Think of it as a Paladin counterpart class – a dark mirror where holy power meets forbidden magic, creating a yin/yang contrast. The core elements are:

  • master of curses, hexes, and forbidden rituals
  • dark, gothic tone rooted in Sanctuary’s grim world
  • power that feels risky, costly, and morally gray
  • visual style focused on shadow, blood, and eerie spell effects

In combat, the Diablo Immortal Warlock plays a patient and controlling game. Instead of charging in, it dominates fights over time. It can:

  • control enemies through debuffs and damage-over-time effects
  • weaken groups before finishing them off
  • reward planning and positioning over raw aggression
  • fit players who enjoy strategic, methodical combat

The expansion also introduces several major features that reshape how you experience Diablo IV, adding depth, strategy, and new ways to engage with the world:

  • a fishing mechanic that lets you relax and explore the environment in a whole new way
  • a complete skill tree overhaul, offering deeper customization for every class
  • the new War Plans endgame system, letting you set and pursue customizable objectives
  • the hyper-rare Echoing Hatred event, testing your skills and strategy
  • the Horadric Cube return, a classic tool for crafting and combining items
  • loot filters Diablo 4 to manage and optimize your gear
  • Charms and Sets comeback, adding layers of strategy and collection

Diablo II: Resurrected – A Historic Update

The surprise is real: the Diablo II: Resurrected Reign of the Warlock $25 expansion releases today, marking the addition of the Diablo 2 new class 25 years after the game’s original launch.

It also starts a new dual-version era for the game: one track remains a classic, time-locked experience, while the other evolves with new content.

Blizzard Entertainment compared the original Diablo 2 to the Mona Lisa, saying it should be preserved as it was, while a separate version can grow.

The evolving version introduces several quality-of-life and endgame upgrades, such as:

  • enhanced Terror Zones for more dynamic and rewarding farming encounters
  • built-in loot filters to help you sort and find gear faster
  • advanced stash tabs for improved inventory organization and control
  • chronicle loot database, tracking all notable loot across your playthroughs and letting you review past finds

The Warlock itself brings a very different flavor to Diablo 2. It focuses on demon mastery and high player control:

  • demon taming skill tree, focused on binding and commanding demons
  • choice to control demons or consume them for personal power
  • higher micro-management than most classic classes
  • strong payoff for players who enjoy complex, hands-on builds

Warlock in Diablo Immortal

Diablo Immortal gets its own tailored Warlock, built for mobile-first play and faster sessions. The class keeps the dark, demonic fantasy but is tuned for quick, readable combat on a small screen. In practice, that means:

  • short, impactful skill rotations instead of long setups
  • clear visual effects that work well on mobile displays
  • fast mobility and burst damage for pick-up-and-play fights

The core idea is the same across the franchise, but each game handles it differently. In Immortal, the Warlock is adapted to mobile pacing, controls, and progression. You get the same dark class fantasy, just shaped for on-the-go play and shorter sessions.

Why This Is a Big Moment for Diablo

The Warlock is a completely new class, the first added to Diablo 2 in 25 years. Blizzard is using it to unify the Diablo experience across PC, console, and mobile. This highlights their live service action RPG strategy, combining:

  • post-launch class expansions that keep the games fresh
  • cross-platform continuity, with the Warlock in Diablo 2: Resurrected, Diablo 4, and Diablo Immortal
  • long-term live service support for ongoing updates and events

It’s a milestone for the franchise, proving Blizzard can innovate while keeping the core Diablo experience intact.
