Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 has a new trailer and, more importantly, a release date. The new 10-episode story will arrive on Netflix on October 20, 2026.
The second season returns to Night City, but it is not a direct continuation of David Martinez’s story. Instead, it follows a new cast and tells another standalone story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
The trailer gives us a better look at the new characters, the familiar corporate nightmare of Night City, and plenty of the violence and visual excess associated with the original series.
Studio Trigger is returning to animate the new season, while Kai Ikarashi is directing. Bartosz Sztybor also returns as showrunner, writer, and producer. The story has previously been described as a new tale of redemption and revenge rather than a continuation of Season 1.
Back to Night City on October 20
The first Cyberpunk: Edgerunners became one of the most successful extensions of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe after its 2022 debut. It told the story of David Martinez, a teenager who turns to mercenary work in Night City and gradually gets pulled deeper into its world of gangs, corporations, cyberware, and violence.
Season 2 keeps the same setting but starts again with a new group of characters. All 10 episodes are currently listed for release on October 20, 2026.
The connection to Cyberpunk 2077 remains direct. The anime and CD Projekt Red’s RPG share the same Night City, corporations, gangs, technology, slang, and wider setting, even though their main stories are separate. If the new trailer has you wanting to return to Night City before October, the game is still the obvious place to do it.
