After experiencing a bit of a delay, the 1.02 update for Elden Ring: Nightreign AKA the multiplayer Soulslike, is out now, so you can finally enjoy the duos mode.

The patch was supposed to drop on July 30th, but it had to be postponed to today due to an 8.8 magnitude earthquake around the Kamchatka Peninsula. Evacuations were ordered in parts of Japan, Hawaii, West Coast US and other regions located around the Pacific due to tsunami warnings. Luckily, a larger disaster was avoided and people were allowed to get back to business as usual.

So what does that mean for Nightreign, now that the update is out?

Elden Ring Nightreign update: Best of Patch 1.02

You can read the full patch notes up on the game’s space on the Bandai Namco website, below we’ll go through just some of the more interesting changes.

  • The new patch’s most important features is the aforementioned duo mode. This option was a bit of an oversight in the release build of the game, and, due to high demand and it being admittedly a good idea, it finally arrived in a full, official capacity, with suitable rebalancing and a helpful UI change. Now when you’re starting a run, what used to be “Expedition Type” became “Number of players” for extra clarity.
  • On the QoL side of things, the 1.02 patch solves some of the interface woes, with more options to filter relics as probably the most important bit. You can filter by conditions, effects, and a mixture of both, for example.
  • The number of loadouts was increased to 100. Go nuts with your builds.
  • You can now skip cutscenes after beating the Night Aspect.
  • Weapons got improved descriptions at Limveld Merchants, accessible through pressing the right stick or ‘3”, depending on your controller.
  • There’s also a bunch of bug fixes for good measure.

Finally, you should start expecting a new Everdark Sovereign, this time based on the Augur, per the pre-patch announcement.

Now go update the game and start playing with your friend!
