Endless Legend! 4X games tend to be pretty endless, infinite replayability is their nature.

But all legends, no matter how endless, eventually arrives at a point where it needs a new entry to try new things the previous version was not built to handle. That’s when a successor comes in.

All that long-winded introduction is to say that

  1. Amplitude Studios’ Endless Legend 2 is still coming, set to launch on September 22, 2025
  2. it currently features a pretty short-lived Steam demo.

If you already know you want to check it out, check EL2’s Steam page and get gaming, since the demo is going away on August 18.

If you’d like to know more about Endless Legend 2 before you venture forth, we’ve got you covered. So, what does it have to offer?

The biggest new feature is how the world changes around you. Every now and then the archipelago you begin building your civilization is affected by the “tidefall”. The cataclysm causes water to recede, making more land available, eventually making islands merge and grow as the ocean level drops. The tidefalls reveal ruins, resources, opportunities… threats.

This shifting landscape should open interesting strategic possibilities, and also keep the procedurally generated world engaging into the endgame, which is often 4X games’ greatest foe.

The factions, such as the somewhat futuristic, fortified Kin of Sheredyn, are also stated to have a powerful impact on the playthrough, as their specialties and quirks make certain playstyles more feasible than others.

Of course, there’ll also be a host of technical improvements and a fresh coat of paint, making the game look gorgeous both in stillness and in motion.

The turn-based fantasy 4X is launching fully in September, and if you’re interested, grab the demo now while it’s still available. You only have until August 18th.
