Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will not bring back every location from the original Final Fantasy 7.

The developers have now confirmed that Bone Village, one of the original game’s field map areas, will not appear in the final part of the Remake trilogy.

TL;DR – Quick Facts
  • Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is the final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.
  • The game was recently revealed during Summer Game Fest.
  • Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that Bone Village will not be included.
  • Players will still be able to revisit North Wood and the Temple of Ancients.
  • Other minigames, including snowboarding, are expected to return.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Cut Content

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the last chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, was finally shown during the latest Summer Game Fest event.

With the conclusion now officially revealed, fans are eager to see how Square Enix will close out this reimagined version of the story.

However, because Revelation is still a remake rather than a one-to-one recreation, not every element from the original Final Fantasy 7 will make the jump into the final installment.

One major example has now been confirmed: Bone Village.

Bone Village Will Not Return

The confirmation comes from director Naoki Hamaguchi’s latest interview with RPGsite, as reported via GameRant. During the interview, Hamaguchi was asked directly whether players would be able to visit Bone Village in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

His answer made the situation clear:

“Bone Village itself is not included, but North Wood and the Temple of Ancients, we’ll be able to revisit.”

That means the location itself has been cut, even though surrounding or related areas will still be part of the final game.

Worth Knowing: This does not mean the entire northern portion of the original game has been removed. Hamaguchi specifically mentioned that North Wood and the Temple of Ancients can still be revisited.

What Bone Village Was in the Original

In the original Final Fantasy 7, Bone Village was a field map located in the Icicle Area. It was mainly known for its excavation mechanic, where players could dig up rare items through a small digging minigame.

The location also had story importance. Players used Bone Village to dig up the Lunar Harp, an important item needed to access the Forgotten City.

Because of that, some fans may be surprised to hear that Bone Village itself will not return in Revelation. The Remake trilogy has already reworked several locations, sequences, and gameplay systems, so this appears to be another case where Square Enix is reshaping the original structure for the new version.

What Is Still Returning?

Even though Bone Village has been cut, not everything from that stretch of the original game is gone.

According to the information shared, other minigames are still planned to return in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. The snowboarding minigame, in particular, is expected to be included in the final part.

That should soften the blow for players worried that Revelation might remove too many memorable side activities from the original game.

Final Thoughts

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will clearly continue the trilogy’s approach of remixing the original rather than copying it exactly. Bone Village may be gone, but the developers are still bringing back other locations and minigames tied to this part of the journey.

For now, the biggest question is how Square Enix will replace or restructure the role Bone Village played in the original game, especially when it comes to progression toward the Forgotten City.

Bone Village will not appear in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, but the final entry still plans to revisit key areas and preserve some fan-favorite minigames.
