Square Enix has made it official. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will launch on Xbox Series X and S on June 3, 2026.

It is a full release, arriving on the same day as the Nintendo Switch 2 version. After years of exclusivity and missed opportunities, Xbox players are finally being treated equally.

The News Arrived Without Leaks or Speculation

Hints started to appear during the latest Nintendo Partner Direct, where the Switch 2 version was featured.

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH - Announcement Trailer

Shortly after that presentation, Square Enix posted confirmation for Xbox across all of their social media channels.

No Delays Between Platforms This Time

On June 3, the game arrives for Xbox and Switch at the same time. This eliminates the frustration of staggered releases that force one group to wait while another gets early access.

For the remake trilogy, this is an important shift. The first game never appeared on Xbox, and for a long time it seemed like Square Enix had moved on from the platform.

Preorders Are Live and the Price Is Lower in Select Regions

Rebirth is available to preorder now through the Xbox Store. In certain regions, a 20% discount applies, bringing the price down from $49.99 to $39.99.

For a title of this size and scope, that is a reasonable deal, especially for players new to the series who want to start with the second chapter.

Rebirth Expands Beyond What the First Game Offered

The second game in the trilogy continues the story but also goes much bigger. Midgar is just the beginning. Players will explore an open world, with new combat mechanics and additional systems like synergy attacks and advanced enemy behavior.

There is more optional content, more side quests, and much more to do overall.

With Rebirth on the way, players are already looking ahead to part three. According to known leaker NateTheHate, the final chapter will likely be revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026. It will use Unreal Engine 4 and follow the same multi-platform direction.

A Defining Year for the Franchise

With a global release for Rebirth and a full reveal of part three on the horizon, 2026 is shaping up to be a key year for Final Fantasy. Veteran fans and new players have plenty to look forward to.
