Letten, the new region coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, takes much of its visual inspiration from the real European countryside. Fool’s Theory has now shared more about the thinking behind Geralt’s next destination following the expansion’s Gamescom 2026 reveal.
Letten mixes Poland, England, and spring folklore
Speaking during Gamescom, Fool’s Theory described Letten as a peaceful and idyllic rural region. Vision director Karolina Kuzia-Rokosz specifically compared its atmosphere to the Polish countryside.
The result is a landscape of green fields, lakeside villages, flowers, farms, and country estates rather than another war-ravaged corner of the Continent. The expansion takes place during spring, around Belleteyn, giving the region an additional festival atmosphere with some visual elements reminiscent of northern European midsummer celebrations.
Where is Letten on The Witcher map?
Fool’s Theory world director Peter Gelencser also offered a surprisingly specific answer for lore fans trying to place the region. Letten lies in the north, around the southern bank of the Nimnar River after following the Buina east from the Gulf of Praxeda.
That places Dandelion’s homeland in northern Redania, relatively close to Kovir and considerably farther north than most of the areas explored in the original Witcher 3. It also puts Letten geographically closer to the setting associated with The Witcher 4.
The pleasant scenery should not be taken entirely at face value. CD PROJEKT RED describes Letten as a land of rural traditions and plentiful harvests with a dark secret beneath its idyllic surface, while Fool’s Theory has similarly teased a more sinister side to the region that has not yet been fully revealed.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past is planned for release in 2027 and is being co-developed by CD PROJEKT RED and Fool’s Theory. If you somehow don’t have The Witcher 3 yet, get your journey started!.
