It’s a new studio even though it partially shares a name with the old development team.

Some of you might remember Black Sea Studios founded in 2001, developers behind RTS Knights of Honor and MOBA Arena of Fate. In 2008 it was bought and renamed Crytek Black Sea with HQ in Sofia, Bulgaria. As we previously informed, it’s one of five studios being closed.

Now, Vesselin Handjiev, former studio executive, in co-operation with former Crytek partner Michael Peykov decided to form the Black Sea Games studio. It’s a new team, but it’s highly probable that it won’t be long until they hire some of Crytek’s talents. Here’s a small quote from their debut press release:

Our mission is to create hard-core games that will entertain you over and over again. We believe the best gaming experiences are coming from challenging the players with meaningful choices, while giving them the freedom to create (and share) their own in-game stories. Whether it is a “sandbox” or an “open world”, these are just words. We would know we did our job right,  when you feel like: “Ah,… just one more hour”.
