Still, this is good, as it means that Grounded 2 will be bigger, bolder, and possibly much better than its predecessor (a very good game either way). And you’ll be able to launch it on a decade-old rig without the fear of your computer’s innards getting fried or something.
So, what are Grounded 2’s system requirements? As per the game’s Steam store page:
Minimum:
- OS: Windows 10/11 with updates
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 / Intel i5-8400
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD RX 5700 / Nvidia GTX 1070 / Intel Arc A580
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 40 GB available space
Recommended:
- OS: Windows 10/11 with updates
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X / Intel i7-10700K
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD RX 6800 XT / Nvidia RTX 3080
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 40 GB available space
Additionally, Grounded 2 requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.
As you can see, these requirements aren’t anything a semi-decent rig can’t handle. Even the required storage space, 40 GB, isn’t much, though it does somewhat leave us expecting more from the game’s content and such sort.
What is Grounded 2 all about, anyway?
In case you’re not familiar with this lovely little franchise, Grounded is basically Obsidian’s take on Honey, I Shrunk the Kids movie. It’s a co-op action-adventure survival game where you cooperate with a bunch of other kids (up to four players can embark on an epic journey together) to explore, build, and discover. The only problem is that you’ve been shrunk to the size of a minuscule insect, meaning all them bugs are potentially extremely dangerous. Naturally, your goal will be to find out who’s behind this whole downsizing thing, why it happened, and how you can restore your original sizes to return home safely.
Grounded 2 builds upon that premise with more features. One of them is buggies. No, not the vehicles, but the insects you can tame and then partner up with to help you traverse the playground and gather resources. Plus, there’s this promise of an ever-lurking threat waiting for you out there, observing and getting ready to strike when you least expect it.
Anyway, this isn’t exactly what you’d expect from Obsidian, the masters of the RPG genre. But who cares? Grounded turned out to be very, very good and the sequel promises to pack way more punch.
When is Grounded 2 dropping?
Here’s the good news: the game is about to unlock in just a couple hours, on July 29, 2025. Will it be on Xbox Game Pass?
If you’re itching for some summertime adventures, this one’s going to be a perfect opportunity to return to the good old days of exploring them backyards with your friends, albeit with a twist. Don’t forget to stock up on bug spray!
