This might be disappointing news to some, but it might be all for the better.
Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, the upcoming new addition to the legendary series and a loving tribute to HoMM 3, has been delayed. The developers need more time to polish the game and meet the expectations of the fans.
This is commendable, of course, though the wait’s going to be quite a bit longer, as now the game’s slated for an Early Access release near the end of 2025. The change of the release date is also due to the fact that the developers, Unfrozen, are an indie studio, which comes with its own set of challenges.
The Unfrozen studio has already shown that they’re open to the voices of the HoMM community by implementing various changes suggested by fans, such as updating Temple Town and angelic units or adding new accessibility features. More are to come, including an overhauled Necropolis town screen.
All in all, Olden Era is shaping up to become a loving tribute to Heroes of Might & Magic III and a fitting addition to this revered turn-based strategy series.
