Is there anyone here who has recently been worried about the fate of Highguard?

In recent weeks, the game has been in the spotlight after its official website went down, and concept art shared by the developers started circulating online.

Many fans interpreted this as a sign of the project’s imminent cancellation.

Fortunately, it turns out that the developers are not giving up.

Later this week, the game will receive a major update that will introduce a lot of new content, from a new base, through fresh raid tools, to changes in the shop and additional cosmetic items.

If you want to know exactly what will be included in the update and how it will affect gameplay, read our guide.

What Is Highguard?

Before we get into the details, let’s remind ourselves what Highguard is.

So, it’s a networked FPS shooter focused on tactical team-based gameplay.

Players take on the roles of members of elite squads fighting for control over strategic bases and resources in a world dominated by powerful factions.

The gameplay focuses on planning attacks, defending key points, and utilizing specialized tools and equipment.

Additionally, each map is designed to reward teamwork, map control, and skillful resource management.

Highguard Update

Let’s get to the most important thing, which is what the new update will offer Highguard players.

The developers have prepared a solid amount of content that is not only meant to refresh the gameplay but also significantly change the way attack and defense are conducted.

New Cloudreach Base

The biggest highlight of the update is the Cloudreach base, a fortified airship hangar belonging to the Iron Vigil faction.

At the center is a huge airship with Anchor Stone in its cargo hold. Its deck offers a great position for snipers and a wide field of view, but at the same time exposes them to fire from multiple directions.

In addition to the hangar, players will fight in the generator buildings, which serve as strategic points and provide cover as well as narrow passageways. In their upper sections, there are ventilation shafts through which defenders can throw grenades, and three bomb planting points spread throughout the complex make the battles cover the entire base.

Lockpick As A New Raid Tool

The update will also introduce a new raid tool called the Lockpick.

It allows you to shoot special bolts at doors and windows, temporarily taking control of them and blocking access to opponents.

This solution can significantly change attack and defense tactics.

As for the ammunition for the Lockpick, it can be found in crates, supply barrels, or purchased from the trader Flynn.

Remember that proper resource management can therefore become crucial during a match.

Changes In The Shop And New Items

The developers have also prepared changes for players who want to invest in additional content.

Therefore, Trader Flynn will now offer seven items per week instead of five.

Moreover, some items from the previous week may return to the shop, giving players a second chance to purchase them.

Among the new additions, there will also be new mounts like Moonbruins, resembling bear-owls, as well as cosmetics inspired by the Iron Vigil faction.

Conclusion

That’s everything you need to know about the Highguard Update!

Although the past few weeks suggested the worst, the upcoming update shows that the game is still being developed.

Will it be enough to attract new players and retain the current ones? That remains to be seen.

One thing is certain, players have something to look forward to, and for now at least, the developers have no plans to abandon the game.
