Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was a game which surprised many people by how genuinely good and fun it was, fully embracing the source material’s tone and style.

It also happened to have really satisfying gameplay, including crunchy fistfights. It’s no wonder there’s an expansion coming, complete with a whole new mystery to dive into.

The DLC expansion, currently planned to release on September 4 is titled “The Order of Giants” and will delve deeper into the mysteries of the Nephilim Order, who were quite involved in the story of the base game.

Although information is rather scarce at the moment, there are some thing we certainly can expect from the expansion when it drops.

The story continues

First of all, more lore is certainly coming, and as the blog post on Bethesda’s official site that the developers are excited to say more about the Order, exploring the history of the giants descended from fallen angels. We’ve only seen a slice of what the Nephilim were up to in the base game, after all.

You’ll also meet the Cult of Mithras, who’s probably up to no good, or at least doesn’t want Indy to find answers he so single-mindedly seeks.

Into the depths we go

That same blog post also talks a bit about the kinds of fist-first sightseeing we’re going to do. Although the Order of Nephilim is allied with the Vatican, Indy’s going to take us on a trip through under the surface of Rome, into the sewers of Cloaca Maxima and deep crypts. There’s also some talk of secret gladiatorial arena hailing back to Emperor Nero.

Quite puzzling

Obviously, there’s going to be a new batch of puzzles connected to it all, letting both Indy and you, the player, flex these brain muscles. Obviously, the details are scarce, but it’s probably safe to expect things in a similar vein to those present in the base game.

Opinions

The trailer for the Indiana Jones DLC was met in good spirit, in part certainly thanks to the warm reception of the base game. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle sits at a comfortable 89% of positive reviews on Steam, and it one of MachineGames’ finest works, so there’s every reason to expect the DLC to be a very fun pulpy archaeology adventure it’s supposed to be.
