The last couple of weeks were full of news of Square Enix trying to sell IO Interactive, the makers of Hitman. Now the saga comes to an end.

Apparently the publisher and the company have reached an agreement. IO Interactive will become an independent studio with the rights to their hallmark franchise.

“IOI started as an independent studio and we will now return to those roots with an extremely passionate and talented team,” says Hakan Abrak, the studio’s head.

This is good news for about everyone. Square Enix will get their money, IO Interactive will do as they please and players will enjoy further misadventures of the bald assassin with a taste for dress-ups.
