Patch 1.03 for Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is out and it’s arguably the most exciting one so far. Here’s what’s new and what’s changed in the most recent update.
What’s New in the Patch
The most recent patch for Tainted Grail brought some new exciting changes, some of which were a result of user feedback.
From now on, after finishing the game, you will be able to keep playing and freely explore the world if you wish to.
Summons have become more convenient to use, as now they should be able to leave interiors with you. On top of that, summons got improved AI which should improve their behavior in combat. Additionally, collisions with summons outside of combat will be toggled off from now on, which should solve cases of blocking passages.
There’s also a protection system that prevents killing essential NPCs by accident; they can still be killed but require explicit confirmation from the player.
Known Fixes
On top of the new additions, the newest patch aimed to fix numerous bugs and solve some other issues, including several ones that were considered critical. Among the critical ones, developers mentioned fixing one source of game crashes and addressed a missing save file issue. Items with special effects have been optimized to reduce lags and UI has been tweaked to eliminate memory leaks, which should result in significantly better performance on all platforms.
Our biggest patch since the release date has just been launched on PC (coming to consoles later today).

A list of non-critical fixes is a lengthy one and targets all kinds of issues, from those related to gameplay to the ones that are purely technical. Some quest dialogues were adjusted, as well as some item descriptions. The Japanese version got a big update and most of the text should be translated now.
Some audio bugs were fixed as well, such as Giant Sentinel audio volume levels and the audio length of one of the Rune’s lines. An instance of missing music during a boss fight in the castle was also addressed.
Visuals were also fixed in numerous ways. Projectile trails were tweaked, as well as summon markings on the clothes of human summons. Some instances of missing lip movement were fixed, too.
Balancing Changes
Patch 1.03 also brings some important balance updates for a fairer gameplay experience.
Notable changes include fixing the mana cost for Arcane Mace, increasing the effects of individual parts of the Archdruid set, and addressing the issue of Gem of Dodge not properly decreasing the cooldown of Dash.
Galahad’s Mace should now properly apply Burn status on hit and the Weightbound spell won’t affect hero summons anymore.
Bors in Sagremor Castle received a buff, Tidepiercer got projectile collision fixed, Giant’s Club is no longer a usable weapon, and Bear’s Claw got balanced to be more in line with other items of its tier.
