The recently released Lies of P: Overture DLC has made quite an impact — though perhaps not the kind developers originally intended…

Although fans were excited to come back to the twisted world of Krat, it didn’t take long for them to voice strong opinions about the expansion’s punishing difficulty.

The good news? The devs are listening — and a Lies of P update is already in the works to address the issue!

What Is Lies of P: Overture?

Lies of P is an action RPG inspired by Bloodborne and Sekiro, but with a unique twist — the story reimagines the classic children’s book tale of Pinocchio in a dark, Belle Époque setting filled with mechanical horrors and moral dilemmas.

The newly released DLC, Lies of P: Overture, once again lets us step into the shoes of Pinocchio, who — thanks to a mysterious artifact — is transported into the past, to a time before the massacre that forever changed the face of the city. Interestingly, the choices we make and the actions we take will affect not just the present, but also the past and future of Krat.

Is Overture “Harder Than It Should Be”?

Since launch, the community reaction to the DLC has been mixed. While some praised its atmosphere and design, many were quick to point out that the balance felt off… Especially when regular enemies felt tougher than bosses from the base game and the average encounter was less about skill and more about surviving near-instant death.

Players described the DLC as “overwhelming” and “unfair”, sparking threads across forums and social media calling for smarter scaling.

A Patch Is Coming

Thankfully, both the game director and Round8 Studio were quick to acknowledge the patch feedback. In an official letter, they admitted the DLC may have overshot the mark in terms of challenge and confirmed that a balance patch is on the way.

While the exact changes haven’t been revealed yet, the team mentioned they are actively working to “smooth out” the difficulty and make the experience more accessible without compromising the game’s core challenge.

This kind of rapid response shows that the developers are serious about listening to their players. While the upcoming action RPG patch won’t erase the DLC’s unforgiving tone entirely, it should make Lies of P: Overture a more balanced and enjoyable experience. If you’ve been holding off because of the difficulty spike — now might be a good time to wait and see how the balance changes play out in the next update.
