Just a week after launch, Mafia: The Old Country is already expanding – Free Ride mode returns to let players freely explore the Italian countryside!
Following the massive success of their recent release, Mafia: The Old Country, Hangar 13 has announced that one of their post-launch updates will include a Free Ride mode, letting players enjoy the open world-lite charm of 1900s Sicily. And while the game was designed as a primarily linear experience, players are excited to welcome this brand-new feature!
Mafia: The Old Country Is Getting Free Ride Mode Post-Launch
As the creators shared in their recent announcement, “Since launch, Mafia: The Old Country has garnered more than 3 million hours of viewership on Twitch, and players have quickly amassed some dizzying statistics:
- 600 million shots fired
- 185 million enemies dispatched
- 17 million bandages used
- 10 billion Dinari earned
There’s plenty to celebrate, and we’ve also learned that the upcoming months will see a new 2K Hangar 13 update, including the beloved Mafia The Old Country Free Ride mode. It will allow players to freely roam 1900s Sicily, complete optional missions, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. And while the Mafia Exploration mode is already available for limited sandbox play, this new addition might offer much more than just collectible-hunting.
This mode will be familiar to fans of the series, as it initially debuted in the Mafia: Definitive Edition. And while it’s not a fully open world like Mafia III, its sandbox-style freedom will let players explore the beautiful game world from an entirely new perspective.
Mafia post-launch content suggests a shift in the developers’ approach, aiming to pack this new release with as many fan-favorite features as possible. By combining familiar mechanics, a new chapter in the series’ history, and features that players have loved in the past, the developers can prepare for significantly larger numbers than those already mentioned in the recent announcement!
