Marvel Rivals Season 4: Heart of the Dragon introduces new heroes Angela and Daredevil, new map K’un-Lun: Heart of Heaven, summer skins, and key gameplay updates. What’s worth checking out first?
New Heroes: Angela and Daredevil
Angela joins the roster early in the season. She’s not just another damage dealer either. Angela enters as a Vanguard character, offering a shift from the recent focus on Duelists. Her ability kit uses Ichors, a form of liquid metal, which she can shape into weapons during combat. That includes spears, shields, and dual axes. Her playstyle seems to reward aggressive engagements and reactive defense, letting her dive in or absorb hits as needed.
Daredevil is coming too, but he won’t be available at launch. He’ll arrive in what the developers are calling Season 4.5. Details on his move set are still under wraps, but his inclusion continues NetEase’s trend of expanding the roster with recognizable names from across the Marvel universe.
New Map: K’un-Lun – Heart of Heaven
Season 4 also introduces a new Convergence map set in K’un-Lun: Heart of Heaven. This location ties directly into the ongoing story, which focuses again on Doctor Doom’s manipulation of the timestream. The fusion of multiple Capital Cities of Heaven into one vulnerable zone has left the Immortal Dragon Shou-Lao frozen in time. The story now places Angela and Daredevil into this unstable setting, alongside a mysterious child adopted by Iron Fist. Narrative aside, the new setting should give players a fresh arena for both casual and competitive matches.
New Modes and Arcade Hub
Several new game modes are also making their debut. “Free Fight” removes the restriction on duplicate heroes, allowing teams of the same character. This mode clearly leans into chaotic fun rather than competitive balance.
Conquest (Annihilation) focuses on scoring points through eliminations, adding a faster paced option for players who want pure action. Fan favorite modes like Clone Rumble and Giant Size Brain Blast are returning and will all be accessible through a redesigned Arcade Mode hub. This central hub is intended to make it easier to jump between different game types.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
On the quality-of-life side, the character selection screen is getting a small but useful update: a new Favorites bar. Players can now tag their most used characters for faster access during pre-match selection. It’s a minor change, but one that improves flow for anyone who rotates through a few mains.
New Skins and Accessories
New cosmetics are dropping too. The second round of swimsuit skins will feature Invisible Woman, The Punisher, Mantis, Thing, and Human Torch. Additional accessories are themed around Magneto, Luna Snow, Scarlet Witch, and Cloak and Dagger. These cosmetics follow the game’s existing design patterns and should appeal to anyone collecting skins or building themed loadouts.
Balance Changes and Team-Up Ability
Doctor Strange, Peni Parker, Thor, Scarlet Witch, and Blade are all getting minor buffs to improve their usefulness in team based scenarios. Luna Snow, by contrast, is being toned down. Her Ultimate ability duration is being reduced to curb its effectiveness.
One highlight this season is the new Team-Up ability, Divine Armoury. When Angela is on the team, Thor gains access to a throwable lightning spear. It’s a focused tool that could change how players set up mid fight combos, especially in modes that reward tight team play.
Seasonal Development Approach
NetEase continues to build Marvel Rivals through regular seasonal updates. Each season brings new characters, moves the story ahead, rotates or adds game modes, and delivers changes based on community feedback. Season 4 sticks to that approach. It adds a story driven map, revives popular modes, and makes everyday play more efficient with additions like the Favorites bar. With a PlayStation 4 release on the way, the player base is likely to grow even more.
