While Microsoft is trying to get its users used to subscription-based services, enthusiasts of classic solutions shouldn’t feel left out. Office 2024 is already here and may be the best option for a subscription-free experience.
On October 1, 2024, Microsoft released a new, perpetual version of its Office suite, available in three editions:
- Office Home 2024 for consumers,
- Office Home & Business 2024 for consumers and small businesses,
- Office LTSC 2024 for midsize and large enterprises.
What sets it apart from subscription-based Microsoft 365 is that instead of paying neverending fees to use the software, users can pay once and own it forever.
But why are Office 2024 and Office LTSC 2024 only supported for 5 years?
Office LTSC 2024 and Office 2024 will go out of support on October 9, 2029. Since Microsoft releases each version of its suite every three years, their support period always equals five years. According to Microsoft, software older than ten years is less secure and more challenging to manage.
Due to the accelerating pace of technology development, letting users use the latest and safest features is a must-do. Therefore, we can enjoy the current Office 2024 support until October 2029.
