Copper just became even better. It’s the coppest!

Long-term fans of the objectively the coolest material in Minecraft are eating well recently. Not only one of the previous updates introduced copper bulbs with full oxidation system implemented, now there are even more recipes for the versatile metal, including a brand new golem! Get your honey ready, we’re diving in.

Minecraft - Official Copper Golem, Chest, and Gear Overview Trailer

The new content drop described in an official Minecraft blog post on July 1st talks about everything coming with it. It’s not a full on “Minecraft 2025 update” just yet, but it’ll likely follow after a testing period.

Conductive companionship

First of all, yes, the copper golem, once scorned in a mob vote held by Mojang in 2021. It’s not just a cute mob meant to simply stomp around your homestead, it has a feature which is sure to delight all fans of automation and inventory sorting systems. All you need is a copper block and a carved pumpkin. Put the latter on the former and voila, not only do you get the golem (subject to weathering and honey waxing, as per usual), but also a brand new type of chest!

Sort it out!

The new golems can take items out of copper chests and take them to other chests, even putting them in neat stacks as needed. It’ll be a great help especially at the early stages of your worlds, before you’ve had the chance to dabble in redstone machinery.

Copper Golem in Minecraft new Snapshot

Bronze age!

In addition to a new home helper and a new place to dump all your hard-mined resources, there’s also a full range of copper tools and equipment for you.

Copper gear is between stone and iron in terms of durability and efficiency, but it won’t be able to dig up resources you need iron tools to get. It’s still a meaningful upgrade over stone items, and a stylishly weathered copper armor is going to look cooler than the flat grey iron one, at least until you get your hands on the trims. Who needs a higher armor tier if you can look good?

When, where?

For now, these new features are being tested in the Bedrock version, and to access them you need to enable Bedrock previews by following the instructions found through this link.

Java users will have a snapshot available “soon”.

Get your bees working overtime for all the honey you’ll need to lock-in the desired oxidation levels on the new stuff.
