The legend has it that once the Mishima clan is all dead and there’s nobody left to fight, the Tekken series will end.

But we’re not there yet. Even with old man Heihachi out of the way, Jin and Kazuya still have each other to punch.

Of course, the game won’t be all about the father-son fisticuffs, the starting roster of fighters in the new installment of the classic series features over thirty characters, all given a design and graphical lifting to stand up to scrutiny on modern machines.

As expected, the combat system got a few meaningful tweaks as well, using the new Heat mechanics to push for more aggressive playstyles within the scope of Tekken’s flavor of gameplay. There’s certainly going to be a lot for fighting game analysts to bite into.

Tekken 8 will also feature an Arcade Quest mode, intended to serve as an entry-level experience into the game, letting people learn the systems gradually, in battles against increasingly powerful enemies. Apparently playing through the quest will yield additional customization options for the established characters and the player-created avatar alike. Customization seems to be quite expansive in general, as it also said to included chaing the HUD or music, not just the appearance of fighters.

Tekken 8 is scheduled to launch on January 26, 2024, so put your guard up right now or Kazuya will sucker punch you (with FUN!)
