It’s now out via early access and it’s super fun.

Roaming endless wastelands in your little junk heap armed to the teeth? Blasting similar pieces of junk to pieces using said weaponry? Customizing your sweet wreckfest as you see fit? Well, this is a recipe for a very promising vehicular combat game. FUMES got it where it counts, even if it’s still a bit rough around some edges.

The gameplay

FUMES is all about vehicular combat and it’s single-player.

FUMES - Official Early Access Launch Trailer

You get to explore this weird, Mad Max-inspired post-apocalyptic world on four wheels and wreck lots of baddies along the way, including massive bosses. Like that huge ship turned into a ground-based crawler? Yeah, them battles here are something else. And the environments are procedurally generated, too.

Customization in FUMES

Your car is customizable, of course, so you can choose your loadout, slap some stickers on, and voila! Your shiny new rig awaits.

Worth mentioning is the visual aspect of the whole thing, taking on the retro aesthetic and obviously referencing old classics, including the said Interstate and Twisted Metal franchises.

Battles in FUMES are intense and full of surprises

The roadmap

FUMES is out via early access, meaning it’s still unfinished. The developers stated that they want the game to remain there for around a year, during which time they’ll flesh out gameplay mechanics and other aspects. Naturally, the price can also be expected to go up once the full version releases.

Here’s the complete roadmap, taken from the game’s store page on Steam:
