Not even the series’ fans expected Monster Hunter Wilds to have a launch day as successful as this, smashing past the records set by the previous PC releases by a staggering margin.
The latest installment of the Monster Hunter franchise has only just launched on PC, but it’s already climbed into the ranks of Steam’s most impressive launches in terms of concurrent players. At the time of writing its peak was less than 13k shy of a million, and since it’s pretty much weekend already, there is a good chance of it reaching past that delicious milestone.
By comparison, in its almost 7 years presence on PC, Monster Hunter World’s peak was at about 330k players, while MH Rise peaked at about 230k in almost 3 years it’s been on PC.
It’s also worth mentioning that Monster Hunter Wilds is the first MH to release on PC at the same time it launched on other platforms, proving that the PC playerbase is absolutely worth considering for new MH games.
