Monster Hunter Wilds had a tough launch, especially on PC, where performance issues have been a constant. Despite a strong start on Steam, recent feedback is negative — only 13% of reviews from the past 30 days are positive.
Players point to poor optimization, a thin endgame, and slow updates. Title Update 2, released June 30, 2025, tries to address some of these problems and adds new content.
Community Reaction
A wave of criticism includes:
- PC performance: the game never ran well on PC. Many say it got worse with each patch. Common issues include frame drops, weather-related stutter, and in some cases, the game not starting. Capcom has acknowledged this but progress is slow.
- Endgame: many feel the post-story content is too light, with hunts becoming repetitive. There are concerns that major content won’t arrive until months after release.
- Player count: Wilds has lost around 98% of its peak Steam players, dropping from 1.38 million to about 17,000–18,000 — lower than Monster Hunter: World (2018).
