Do you remember Mount & Blade? I sure do, I had quite a lot of fun playing it, including the Warband version.

The first proper sequel to M&B has been announced quite a while ago, and some materials had been released along the way, and now we’re getting a nice gameplay trailer. Behold, Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord.

What am I supposed to tell you? It looks distinctly Mount & Blade, and I mean it in the best possible way. The overworld encounters give familiar dialogue lines, the font is the same, the interiors have a familiar structure. I like it, from the looks of it it’s going to be a straightforward upgrade of everything we loved in the original. Sure, people are going to complain it doesn’t look like The Witcher 3 or something, and the animations aren’t super fluid and elaborate, but it doesn’t matter, not really. If the core is going to be as strong as it’s always been, I think we’re having a new lowkey awesome timesink on our hand, with lots of different systems and activities to busy oneself with.

Mount & Blade: Bannerlord launches gods only know when, unfortunately. We’ll keep you posted.
