No Man’s Sky celebrates Halloween with Breach, a dark, atmospheric expedition featuring eerie space wrecks and expanded corvette customization.

Just when it looked like there might be a breather after the big August drop of Voyagers, Hello Games has launched another surprise. The new update, Breach, is out now and it takes things in a darker direction, both visually and thematically. It is free for all existing players.

The Breach Expedition and How It Works

The Breach expedition started on October 22, 2025, and will run for around three weeks. During this time, players can explore dead systems, collect rewards, and scavenge new parts from derelict corvette wrecks. The vibe leans into desolation and fear, and fits right into the Halloween season.

You will be hunting down the broken remains of destroyed corvettes floating through space. These hulks can be entered only by stepping out into zero-G and dismantling parts using your Multi-Tool. Space-walking is now a proper mechanic, and the materials you recover can be used in the Corvette Workshop to build or modify ships. This makes Breach feel like a natural extension of the Voyagers content.

The update adds new modules including landing gear, weapons, shields, hull connectors, and wedge-shaped pieces that players have been asking for. Rare vertical modules, found in specific wrecks, open up new build styles.

Some of the new content is found in purple-star systems, which first showed up in Worlds Part II. These places are known for strange visuals, hostile biomes, and dangerous planets. Expect abyssal oceans, unstable gas giants, and unusual creatures.

Lore fans get something extra in Breach with the story of the Fireship Arcadia. Players will track down the ship’s remains, follow its route, and uncover what happened through exploration. You will be walking across shattered decks in vacuum while fighting to survive.

New Atlas Rewards: Aeron Modules

If you are aligned with Atlas, there are themed modules as part of the expedition rewards. These are grouped under the Aeron set and have a distinct look that matches Atlas iconography.

You can earn the following through the expedition:
  • Aeron Hull Plates: Including the Aeron Cowling and Aeron Diffuser, these change your ship’s profile
  • Aeron Wings: The Wings of Aeron help with atmospheric stability. The Aeron Blade is a sleek option. The Aeron Drive: Adds mass and power
  • Aeron Shields: The Aeron Powershield improves defensive systems
  • Aeron Decorations: Includes the Aeron Winglet, Pillar, and Pyramid. The Aeron Starship Trail adds a red effect to your ship’s exhaust

Other unlocks include three decorative posters: Event Horizon, Eternal Serpents, and Siren of the Stars. These are just for display but match the expedition’s tone.

Community and Corvette Engineering

The update adds more tools and improves on existing ones. Snapping is more accurate, collision has been improved, and you can now apply a colour palette to an entire ship in one step.

The dev team has shared screenshots of player-created ships, including a Venator Class Star Destroyer by u/Propzie and a scorpion-themed build by @walala23586362.

It is worth noting that also multiple bugs have been fixed. One involved players being ejected into space from internal stairs when the pulse drive activated.

Twitch drops are also live throughout the expedition, giving players a chance to unlock exclusive items by watching streams and linking their accounts.

Ongoing Support and What Comes Next

Breach is the fourth major update this year, following Worlds Part II, Relics, and Beacon. It arrives only weeks after Voyagers and adds another layer to ship-building. Hello Games is nine years into post-launch support and still adding mechanics.

This update rewards players who enjoy the technical side of the game. It is all about collecting, combining, and designing under constraints.

Quick heads-up: NMS plushies, including the limited Traveller and Gek editions, are available for two more weeks. They go off sale on November 5, 2025.

Also, Hello Games is encouraging players to wishlist their next title, Light No Fire.

Breach is now live. It is available for free, and all parts are permanent unlocks once earned. If you like scavenging and ship-building, this is a solid addition.
