The newest update for No Rest for the Wicked is now live in Steam Early Access. The “Together” patch brings fully functional four-player co-op to the game, and it does much more than just add extra bodies.

Realms are now persistent and shared. You and your group can build, explore, and progress in the same world every time you log in.

That alone would be a big shift, but the update goes even further. Combat has been rebalanced, enemy spawns are less predictable and housing is now cooperative. And to avoid the usual chaos of multiplayer, Moon Studios introduced a simple voting system for key group decisions.

What You Can Access Right Now

  • Update Name: Together Co-op Update
  • Co-op Player Count: Up to four
  • Free Access Period: January 22 at 10:00 AM Pacific to January 26 at 10:00 AM Pacific
  • Launch Discount: Forty percent off. Price is currently 23.99 in US dollars and Euros

How Co-op Works in Practice

Realms are persistent, private, and free. When you play together, everything your group does stays saved. You can leave and return without progress getting reset. There is downtime built in too, with shared rest areas and tools for regrouping.

What Changes in Combat

If you have played solo, the moment-to-moment action will feel different. Enemy groups are more reactive now. They press harder when surrounded and behave more erratically when outnumbered. Some spawn points have moved. Encounters have been tuned.

There are also several quality updates that make dodging, striking, and blocking more consistent. The hitboxes have been cleaned up and combat feels more readable. These changes help, especially when four people are swinging at once.

What Happens Between Fights

Building and downtime mechanics have seen a full overhaul. Housing can now be built and used by all players in a Realm. Vendors have clearer menus and are easier to use during group sessions.

Shared chests, rest areas, and a basic voting system let players avoid conflicts and settle things with a quick group majority.

Why the Free Weekend Makes a Difference

Anyone unsure about buying has a clear window to test the game. The free period runs until January 26. If you end up liking what you see, the forty percent discount is the deepest cut the developers have confirmed before the final launch.

The Twitch cosmetics are a bonus. Link your account before January 30 if you want those limited items.

Where the Game Stands Now

No Rest for the Wicked has passed one million units sold while still in Early Access. Moon Studios is not new to this. This is their third major release, following Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. In this game, you play as a Cerim, a holy fighter working to cleanse the island of a spreading corruption.

Getting Started: A Simple Checklist

  • Download during the free weekend and test co-op latency with your group
  • Launch a shared Realm and set rules before things get messy
  • Coordinate your builds. Assign someone to soak damage, someone to control crowds, and someone to deal heavy hits
  • Link your Twitch account and collect the cosmetics before January 30
