A new biome is peeking around the corner to get the drop on you.
Peak, the co-op climbing game which quickly climbed to popularity and hasn’t fully abseiled back down, is receiving an unhospitable region you’ll need to learn to deal with. The Mesa Update will introduce a desert zone to your multiplayer adventures.
The developers at Team PEAK are being a bit coy regarding what exactly the content and biome update entails. The trailer has all of 20 seconds, but it does show a very impressive cactus, a scorching sun, a palm tree, and some cool rock formations rising up into the sky like stacks of petrified pancakes.
Even the news on the game’s Steam page does not offer much more, other than that the update is dropping today. In the Steam forums, the developers confirmed it’s going to drop during “PDT working hours”.
Given the biome’s nature, it might be reasonable to expect some form of dehydration risk, maybe some risk of heatstroke as well, both would open the way for new valuable items to look for during the expedition. Perhaps they’ll be hidden away at the top of these rock formation from the trailer, so that it’s not too easy to survive an landscape only scorpions and lizard could love. Desert levels are like that.
Of course, this is pure speculation, a way to think about the game while waiting for the update to drop a few hours after publication.
The new update should also mark a new opportunity to get in on the game, if you haven’t yet. New region means new challenges, so you’ll be more on even foot with everybody else. After all, nobody knows what the desert has in store.
So get yourself a copy and get ready to cause a fun mess out in the mesa.
