Fight an evil, Lovecraftian cult, plunder an island fool of booty and play morality games with people having no sense of right and wrong (Wizards of course).
The course is charted for Pillars of Eternity 2 it seems, as the 3 pieces of DLC we can expect have all been announced. They will be arriving very soon- in July, September and November respectively this year.
In the first one called “Beast of Winter“, players will investigate a mysterious doomsday cult and explore another dimension of lost souls. Which sounds awfully Lovecraftian, which I definitely like. I hope for a whole lot of tentacles and visions of mad gods.
Second one, “Seeker, Slayer, Survivor” seems to be a very straight-forward cluster of combat arenas with loot at the end. Not necessarily my cup of coffee, but a lot of you will probably enjoy that.
Finally, the last one, “Forgotten Sanctum” is a lovely ride of philosophical pondering and moral dilemmas concerning the wizards of Eora AKA: people who absolutely should not be making earth-changing moral decisions, so it’s good that you’re there to give them a perspective of someone who doesn’t wield phenomenal cosmic power.
The line-up is varied and interesting, expanding on the content of the game without feeling like a necessity. Each piece of the DLCs will be purchasable separately or acquirable in a season pass. Even though I have a hard time getting into isometric, turn-based RPGs (ok it’s not exactly a turn-based but it essentially is), arguing philosophy with wizards has me hooked.
