If you have PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita and still play on them, you should make peace with your wishlists, because their respective PS Stores will be shut down everywhere next year, and some locations will lose them even sooner.

PlayStation continues a string of incredible PR moves which will not backfire at all with a new announcement. After having removed movies from user libraries and announcing that games will no longer come with discs as of 2028, now it also makes sure people know that the end is nigh for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita Stores.

Most of the PS3 and Vita world has until July 2027 to make whatever purchases they’ve been putting off for years, but the Middle East and American countries are in a bigger rush:

LocationStore closure timing
Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaraguawill lose the PS3 store in August 2026
Latin America countries and Middle Eastlose the PS3 store later this year

Existing purchases are stated to not be affected, but once the stores close you won’t be able to get any new ones. One might think everybody still using the older consoles already have everything they’ve ever wanted, but it’s always wise to never underestimate the power of procrastination.

For the time being, PlayStation 4 store is safe from closure, which is great news for PS4 users and of no interest to PS3 and Vita players.

Either way: if there’s any hanging purchase you’ve been putting off, now’s the time to start stocking up.
