While Capcom initially planned to launch Pragmata in 2022, players ultimately didn’t get to experience this exciting release within the original time window.
But it’s 2025, and to our surprise, Capcom shared an official announcement regarding the game’s new launch date. What can we expect?
Official Reveal During Sony’s State of Play Showcase
Announced during PlayStation’s State of Play, Capcom’s new video game follows a male astronaut who meets a young girl equipped with some extraordinary skills. As if that wasn’t enough, it all takes place in space!
According to the gameplay description by the game’s director, Cho Yonghee, “Our two protagonists, Hugh and Diana, happen upon one another and must work together to defeat the lunar station AI and return to Earth.”
Sounds exciting! Following further information, we can expect the title to feature the classic guardian-and-child relationship, similar to what we witnessed in The Last of Us series.
Cho Yonghee also emphasizes that “Both have their own abilities, and you’ll need to control them both – at the same time – to overcome the many obstacles you’ll face.”
When Will the Game Launch?
As we can see at the end of the official First Contact trailer, the developers changed the note from “VERY Sorry :(“ to “2026 It’s real xD.”
Although this piece of information doesn’t suggest an exact launch date, we can probably expect the long-awaited premiere around that year.
According to the title’s official description on the Capcom Games website, the new video game is set to launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
As the director of the entire project notes, “Everyone here on the development team is working hard to make Pragmata the PS5 game you’ve all been waiting for in 2026.” Hopefully, that means the team is doing its best to make up for the wait. Fingers crossed for the successful result!
