R.E.P.O.‘s latest update drops players into the eerie Museum of Human Art and delivers a wave of big new features.
The devs at Semiwork said, “Thank you all for being so patient” and it looks like the wait paid off. Here’s what you need to know right away.
R.E.P.O. Update: New Level, New Rules, New Mayhem
R.E.P.O.’s v0.2.0 update is here, and it’s a beast. Dropped June 26 during the Steam Summer Sale (20% off), the patch is called “REPO has changed forever!” and for good reason.
The new level, Museum of Human Art, is massive. It’s packed with vertical zones and laser traps. It’s loud, chaotic, and built for players who like risk and reward. Your goal? Snag rare artifacts and get out clean. Good luck with that.
Multiplayer Finally Feels Right
You can now find games without jumping through hoops. There’s Server Lists, Random Matchmaking, Lobby Passwords, a region picker, and a mute toggle (default ‘B’). You can even check Steam profiles straight from the lobby.
And yes, there’s a kick function. Boot griefers mid-game, and they won’t come back.
Difficulty That Doesn’t Hold Your Hand
Two new mechanics spice things up past level 10:
- Moon Phases cycle every five levels. They tweak difficulty and add modifiers like Overcharge, which blasts players back if they solo-grab enemies too much. Group grabs soften the blow.
- Overcharge forces more teamwork and timing. No more mindless pulling enemies one by one.
The higher the level, the rougher it gets: bigger maps, more enemies, stricter extraction goals.
New Gear, Weirder Names
Plenty of fresh loot to mess with:
- Weapons: Prodzap, Boltzap, Duck Bucket, Pulse Pistol, Photon Blaster
- Items: C.A.R.T. Cannon, C.A.R.T. Laser, Phase Bridge
- Upgrades: Crouch Rest, Tumble Wings
The names are wild, and the tools are fun. That’s a win-win.
UI That Doesn’t Fight You
Battery UI now shows how much juice you’ve got: each block = one use. Extraction zones light up with warnings so you know what’s at risk. Flashlights throw proper shadows, and enemy lighting is creepier in the best way. Audio got some love too.
Enemies Got Smarter, Balance Got Tighter
Enemies now react better when you try to ghost the level. A bunch of bugs got squashed like Robes not dying or Huntsmen wall-shooting.
Balance tweaks? Tons:
- Crouching = stamina regen boost
- Truck healer scales with difficulty
- Weapon prices dropped
- Hiding is more forgiving
- Weapons feel snappier and tougher
Devs Pulled Long Hours And It Shows
Semiwork’s Pontus Sundström said it straight: they crunched to get this out. The game’s success was unexpected and basically saved the studio. That’s why this update took longer than the next ones will. Community feedback played a big role, and they even patched the infamous health glitch.
What’s Next for R.E.P.O.?
With this update, R.E.P.O. steps up big in the co-op horror scene. Matchmaking’s smooth, difficulty scales smart, and the new level hits hard. Semiwork plans to involve the community moving forward and has confirmed that older maps will get reworked.
The game’s got Lethal Company chaos and SCP-style weirdness, but with more structure underneath. It’s perfect content fuel for Twitch and YouTube.
New? Grab it while it’s cheap. Coming back? Time to reassemble your squad.
