We finally got a trailer for the Blackout feature of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and there’s a whole lot to look at.
A lot to talk about it here, so from the top: the montage is fantastic, whoever these editors are, they did a fantastic job. And I don’t know if it’s just edited this way, but it looks like genuine in-game moments of glory, just strewn together well. Even if it was just done to look that way, congratulations because it succeeded.
Second, the explosive sling weapons leaves me mighty curious. It looks like a gimmick, but I’ve seen enough meta-games to know that gimmicks can be absolutely game-breaking if they’re allowed to be. But setting up explosive spider web traps sounds like fun. Very janky and one-sided fun, but fun nonetheless. And there are RC cars, which I know is something I will love.
And finally we get to zombies. I was confused at first about the creepy monkey toy thinking “how are these guys missing the noise?” But then it hit me: they aren’t. And neither are the zombies. Like I thought, this means zombies are not just an environmental trap, they’re a thing you can use to your advantage.
Black Ops 4 arrives on October 12th, but you can join the closed beta if you pre-order the game.
