Control Resonant is expected to take around 30 hours for its core experience, according to Remedy Entertainment lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov’s conversation with TechRadar.

Players pursuing optional content and full completion could spend closer to 50 hours with the supernatural action RPG. The figures remain development estimates rather than guaranteed playtimes, but they suggest that Resonant will be considerably longer than the original Control. Once the game launches, this playtime will surely get verified by submissions to HowLongToBeat.

A Greater Focus on Melee Combat

The sequel replaces Jesse Faden’s gun-focused combat with a more aggressive melee system built around Dylan Faden and the Aberrant, a supernatural melee weapon capable of changing into different forms.

Genres: Role-playing (RPG), Hack and slash/Beat 'em up, Adventure

Mohov said the original Control remains the development team’s primary gameplay reference. However, individual parts of the combat also draw inspiration from Devil May Cry 2, Devil May Cry 3 and games developed by PlatinumGames. The goal is to retain the identity of Control while creating a faster, closer-range combat system that does not feel exactly like any single existing game.
