Do you guys not have phones? We bet you do, so give us a chance to convince you why the new upcoming mobile Resident Evil game could be worth the wait.

Resident Evil Survival Unit – What We Know So Far?

There was very little known about the new Resident Evil game until last week, when the game’s executive producer, Shinji Hashimoto, and Resident Evil series’ producer, Masachika Kawata, appeared on a 25-minute video, promising players new and exciting experiences in the universe of Resident Evil.

The game is a joint effort of Capcom and JOYCITY, and it’s in the final stages of development – it should be coming out later this year.

The catch? It’s a mobile game. Not only that, but it’s also a strategy, not an FPS or TPS, which means there’s less emphasis on the immersion and atmospheric horror elements we love the series for.

But does that mean it’s bound to disappoint? Not necessarily. There are several things that make it an interesting game to be aware of and keep on your radar. For starters, it will be a free-to-play title; trying it out won’t cost you anything, making it accessible to a wider audience. But there’s more.

Featured Characters in Resident Evil Survival Unit

What stands out the most in the newly announced RE mobile game is its impressive character roster. It looks like developers wanted to make Survival Unit a game that connects all other games from the series.

Characters in Resident Evil Survival Unit

Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Robert Kendo, Becca Woolett, and Alyssa Ashcroft are just a few of the Resident Evil characters we saw in the early gameplay footage, and there is certainly more to come. It’s especially interesting to see some of the less popular, side characters making their way into Survival Unit, and it will be even more interesting to see how they interact with each other.

For that reason, it’s pretty clear that the game’s story won’t be canon to the main series, but we should still get a believable setting that not only focuses on plausible “what if” scenarios within the universe but also follows established RE tropes.

A Strategy Mobile Game Set in the Universe of Resident Evil

A strategy game is certainly not what players have expected to see, but it might be a breath of fresh air and a way to expand the horizons, opening the gates of the franchise to welcome new faces.

Resident Evil Survival Unit Gameplay

It looks like the game will combine the elements of a city builder with customizable character team-ups, where choosing the right characters for the job plays a crucial role in achieving success.

As you play the game and engage with its mechanics, you’ll be able to obtain new characters of varying rarities. You’ll have to get all the needed resources to train and equip your characters to increase the chances of their survival and prepare them for upcoming encounters against evil creatures.

Conclusion

Even though the new Resident Evil mobile strategy is not for everyone, it already has its fans who were craving for a simple game from the RE franchise to kill some time while they’re not at home or can’t use their PC or consoles. It’s not supposed to be your main game but something to play on the side, and for this, the RE mobile experience could be a perfect solution.
