After 13 years, Rockstar officially shut down Social Club. What does the future hold for GTA 6’s online services?

It turns out that after over a decade, Rockstar has quietly and without warning taken down its Social Club – a digital platform connecting players across the developer’s multiple video games. This unexpected shift may signal the arrival of new community features related to the upcoming release of the next GTA game, but what exactly can we expect?

Rockstar Shuts Down Social Club After 13 Years – What’s Next for GTA 6?

Rockstar Social Club was first launched alongside the release of GTA 4, aiming to become a social platform where the community could check player stats, user profiles, make friends, and share achievements across various titles, like GTA Online, Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and more. Well, that time is over, and the official Social Club shutdown might mark a fresh chapter in the studio’s history.

Social Club – Rockstar Games Community Platform

The first hints about massive changes emerged at the end of 2023. Rockstar gradually removed mentions of Social Club from its website, replacing them with more neutral terms, such as “Rockstar Games account” or “Rockstar Games members”. Nevertheless, the community can’t help but feel a bit disappointed with the recent modifications.

As user videotechuk_ shared on X, “Rockstar Games Social Club has come to an end today after 13 years, the main URL http://socialclub.rockstargames.com now redirects to the home page. Currently viewing profiles, walls, photos, video viewing from users are gone, but could be part of new plans to introduce a new platform.”

Players can still use some features like GTA Crews and Friends lists, but the Social Club page redirects straight to the Rockstar website.

Does that mean we can expect a new GTA 6 online platform to replace Social Club? While Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any new plans for community features related to this release, we’ll be the first to report on any news. For now, mark your calendars as GTA VI launches May 26, 2026, on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. There’s still some time left, but Rockstar’s recent moves might signal the arrival of some truly groundbreaking changes!
