According to the insider Dusk Golem, the Silent Hill 1 Remake has been in development for about three years, with a tentative release year of 2027.
As Konami announced in June of this year, Bloober Team, the studio behind Silent Hill 2 Remake, is also working on SH 1 Remake. According to a well-known insider, the game has been in development for three years and might officially launch in 2027. What else can we expect?
Silent Hill 1 Remake Has Reportedly Been in Development for 3 Years
As the most popular installment in the series, Silent Hill 2 got its remake in 2024, and ever since, fans have been eagerly awaiting a modern version of its predecessor. As the insider Aesthetic Gamer (aka Dusk Golem) shared on X, “Silent Hill 1 Remake as far as I know started dev around 3 years ago roughly.” He also added that “If I had to take a guess at the Silent Hill game release schedule, all subject to change at the whims of game dev.” As Dusk Golem notes in his recent post, the developers have previously changed their plans by swapping the release dates of Townfall and Silent Hill F.

If I had to take a guess at the Silent Hill game release schedule (all subject to change at the whims of game dev, Hell this whole OG plan was delayed by a couple years+f & Townfall switched https://t.co/wKPpXZGtSZ

It seems that Konami wants to avoid mistakes experienced in the previous rushed releases’ case (like METAL GEAR SOLID V: The Phantom Pain). Dusk Golem praises the company’s new approach and the fact that Konami is not putting time pressure on the Polish studio regarding remake development by “giving them time to cook.”
Silent Hills Fans – Get Ready for Amazing Years to Come!
Dusk Golem Silent Hill’s potential roadmap for upcoming releases involves these dates:
- 2025 – Silent Hill f
- 2026 – Silent Hill Townfall
- 2027 – SH1 Remake
- 2028 – Internal Silent Hill title
Since different developers are working on Silent Hill F and Townfall, the Polish studio’s strategy of releasing Silent Hill Remake three years after the previous installment in the series seems quite reasonable. Let’s not forget that, in the meantime, the developer was also working on another title, Cronos: The New Dawn, scheduled to release this year. And while the above roadmap relies on predictions, it’s reassuring to see that Bloober and the Japanese company are planning such a long-term collaboration.
Another Phenomenal Remake on the Way?
It also makes sense that both decided to remake Silent Hill 1 after Silent Hill 2, as the latter was always more popular. Its remastered version sold over 2 million copies across PC and PlayStation 5, so this launch has only increased the appetite of the series’ longtime fans, awaiting this upcoming release. Considering that the first Silent Hill was a PlayStation 1 title released in 1999, it definitely deserves a modern reimagination that maintains the spooky atmosphere of the original 28 years after its debut.
