Patch 1.10 for Silent Hill f is now live. New difficulty, system adjustments, bug fixes, and more – find out what changed in the most recent Silent Hill f update.
Silent Hill f Update 1.10 – Quick Overview
The new Silent Hill game received an update that makes several changes to the game, some of which are quite impactful.
From the official patch notes, we learn that patch 1.10 adds a new, beginner-friendly difficulty level, allows skipping certain parts of the game on New Game playthroughs, and makes some changes to the core gameplay. It also comes with several bug fixes and performance issues, so the game experience will be smoother, more immersive, and enjoyable overall.
SHf Casual Difficulty – It Can’t Get Much Easier Than That
Until now, “Story” was the lowest action difficulty in Silent Hill f. It turns out that it was still a bit too much for the average audience, because developers decided to roll out an even easier mode – “Casual”.
Perhaps Konatsu Kato, the actress behind the protagonist, played a role in highlighting the issue, as she decided to stream the game live, but struggled a lot with it. Funnily enough, the community calls the new difficulty “Kato Mode” now.
The new mode is available only for combat and should make the game more satisfying to play for beginners, non-gamers, and those who are simply more interested in the story, its presentation, and the unique atmosphere of Silent Hill f, rather than trying to overcome a challenge and retrying the same sections of the game several times.
This change will undoubtedly improve the game’s accessibility, allowing a wider audience to enjoy the title.
Content Skipping on New Game
Patch 1.10 adds an NG skip feature, allowing players to skip certain parts of the game during consecutive playthroughs. It’s a welcome change, especially considering that getting all the endings in Silent Hill f requires beating the game several times, which was more tedious and cumbersome than challenging.
With the skip option in New Game Plus, more players are likely to experience the entirety of Silent Hill f.
Gameplay Optimizations
Update 1.10 also addresses general game balance issues to iron out the edges. For example, Hinako’s stamina will replenish a bit faster now; the protagonist will also take a bit less damage on the “Hard” difficulty. This change, combined with decreased density of enemies, should drastically improve combat pacing, which was one of the main critiques of Silent Hill f.
Bug Fixes
Finally, patch 1.10 fixes some bugs, including rare but game-breaking ones. For example, if you died at the moment of saving the game, you would die immediately after loading. This won’t happen anymore.
Sometimes dodging an attack caused the character to become unresponsive – this should be gone now as well.
The events that refused to progress even after meeting the conditions are fixed, too.
Additionally, enemies won’t remain outside the combat area where they can’t be defeated anymore.
