- North America (EDT): at 1:00 PM
- United Kingdom (GMT): at 5:00 PM
- Central Europe (CET): at 6:00 PM

The Skate early access lets players try the game before it’s fully finished. It’s free-to-play, always-online, and supported by microtransactions for cosmetic items. Since it’s not the polished final version, some features and fixes are still in progress.
The EA Skate global launch comes with cross-play and cross-progression across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. This means you can skate with friends on any platform and keep your progress wherever you play.
The game’s set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam, offering an open world skating experience across four neighbourhoods to explore. During the early access, new areas, challenges, and music will be added, making the city grow and evolve over time.
Gameplay and Features
Shate highlights its core strengths: smooth mechanics, a wide range of tricks, and the freedom to move however you like. Players can link flips, grinds, and manuals into creative lines or simply cruise through the city at their own pace.
Future updates will add new game modes, party voice chat, leaderboards, and deeper customization. These features aim to expand competition, cooperation, and personal style.
Developer Full Circle emphasizes that fan feedback will guide the game’s direction, making Skate an evolving project shaped by its community rather than a finished product at launch.
Franchise History
The Skate franchise began in 2007 with the release of the first game, which introduced players to its unique “Flick-it” control system and a fresh take on skateboarding.
A year later, Skate It arrived on mobile, Wii, and DS, bringing the series to new platforms. Skate 2 followed in 2009, expanding the world and adding new mechanics, while SKATE 3 launched in 2010 with improved multiplayer and park creation tools. These titles built a loyal fanbase and set the series apart from other skateboarding games of the time.
After Skate 3, the franchise went on a long break. With EA Black Box closing in 2013, fans waited nearly a decade until EA announced the revival in 2020, and now it’s led by the new studio Full Circle.
The return comes in the era of free-to-play, live service games, with ongoing updates and community-driven content. After more than ten years, anticipation is high, and Skate has the chance to rival other online sports and social hubs by giving players a shared space to create, compete, and connect.
