Star Wars Eclipse has resurfaced at D23 2026, offering a small but meaningful sign of life from Quantic Dream’s long-quiet High Republic project.

The game was represented at the Lucasfilm Pavilion during the event, where attendees could see a Star Wars Eclipse trailer as part of Lucasfilm’s current lineup. That matters because Eclipse has spent several years largely out of the public eye, while Quantic Dream itself has gone through a difficult period behind the scenes.

Star Wars Eclipse is still being worked on

The biggest takeaway from D23 is simple: Star Wars Eclipse remains in production.

Quantic Dream has faced various studio-level difficulties during the game’s lengthy development, contributing to uncertainty around the project. Despite those problems, both Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm continue to treat Eclipse as an active upcoming Star Wars game.

Its appearance at D23 is not the same as a full development update, but seeing Lucasfilm continue to promote the project is reassuring after such a long stretch without meaningful public footage. Quantic Dream’s own current materials also continue to describe Eclipse as an action-adventure in development.

A Star Wars Eclipse trailer was shown at D23, but not publicly released

A trailer for Eclipse was presented at the Lucasfilm Pavilion, although Lucasfilm has not released a new D23 trailer to the general public.

Reports from the event indicate that the material shown was based on the game’s original cinematic reveal footage rather than a substantial new gameplay presentation. Some accounts describe rearranged shots rather than genuinely new scenes.

So, while Eclipse technically returned to the screen at D23, fans watching from home still do not have a new gameplay trailer to dissect.

The most recent official trailer available publicly remains the cinematic reveal released when the game was announced at The Game Awards in December 2021.

What do we actually know about Star Wars Eclipse?

Star Wars Eclipse is being developed by Quantic Dream in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. It takes place during the High Republic era and follows an ensemble of playable characters whose choices can alter relationships, locations, conflicts, and even the fates of individual characters.

Quantic Dream describes it as an intricately branching action-adventure set in an unexplored portion of the Outer Rim, with multiple protagonists bringing their own personalities, motivations, and abilities into the story.

That basic pitch has remained consistent since the 2021 reveal. What is still missing is a proper public look at how those ideas translate into gameplay.

Still no Star Wars Eclipse release date

For now, Star Wars Eclipse still has no firm release date. Its D23 appearance confirms that it has not disappeared, but Lucasfilm and Quantic Dream have yet to provide a launch window or publicly release new gameplay footage.

Fortunately, Star Wars fans have other games much closer on the calendar. Turn-based tactics fans can check out Star Wars Zero Company, while anyone who would rather trade lightsabers for repulsorcraft can take a look at Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
