Starship Troopers: Terran Command is sending the Mobile Infantry somewhere considerably sweatier. Slitherine and The Artistocrats have officially named the strategy game’s next major DLC Tropical Terror, a new campaign built around fighting the Arachnids across the jungles of Vega-V.

The September 24 announcement promises a nine-mission story campaign comparable in scale to Urban Onslaught, two new lead characters, FEDNET mission videos, 10 new Federation units, four fresh Arachnid types, and additional content for Territory Mode. There is no release date yet beyond coming soon.

And if Tropical Terror is the thing that finally convinces you to enlist, the timing is pretty funny. During our September 25 check, current G2A.COM offers for the base game were hovering around the $3 mark. At that price, getting caught up before the new campaign arrives does not exactly require Federation-level military spending.

The big takeaway: Tropical Terror looks like a proper expansion rather than a tiny mission pack, and newcomers currently have a very inexpensive route into Terran Command on G2A.COM before it arrives.

What is Starship Troopers: Terran Command – Tropical Terror?

Tropical Terror is the next major campaign DLC for Starship Troopers: Terran Command, the real-time strategy game that turns the Mobile Infantry’s war against the Arachnids into a mixture of positioning, firing lines, unit abilities, reinforcements, and the occasional tactical decision best summarized as “there are far too many Bugs over there.”

This time the war moves to Vega-V. Slitherine says the campaign will feature nine story missions, two new lead characters, FEDNET mission videos, 10 new player-controlled units, and four additional Arachnid types. Territory Mode is also getting new content, including maps, missions, technologies, and unlockable cosmetics.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command - Gameplay

There is no confirmed launch date yet. Slitherine currently lists Tropical Terror as coming soon, so for now this is one to keep on the radar rather than a campaign you can jump into immediately.

The jungle setting is more than a change of wallpaper. According to the announcement, the Mobile Infantry will be fighting through dense vegetation, defending improvised outposts and riverside settlements, and trying to keep Federation mining operations alive while the local Bug population does what Bug populations generally do.

That matters in Terran Command because terrain already plays a huge role in combat. Units need clean firing lines, elevation matters, narrow approaches can become either perfect kill zones or extremely efficient human meat grinders, and positioning a squad badly can make superior firepower surprisingly irrelevant.

A dense tropical environment therefore sounds like a natural way to mess with the formula. The Federation still has overwhelming weapons. The problem is finding somewhere useful to point them.

Tropical Terror adds 10 new Federation units. Slitherine has already highlighted some particularly strange additions, including SawMaster tree-felling machines, mechanized artillery platforms, hovering mortar systems, quadrupedal personnel carriers, and armed dropships.

That lineup suggests the environment itself may become part of the tactical puzzle. A machine specifically designed to chew through trees is not exactly subtle foreshadowing.

The Arachnids are bringing four new nightmares of their own. Delvers tunnel through the battlefield, Scarabs can turtle up defensively, Venators specialize in pouncing attacks, and the wonderfully reassuring King Tanker sits at the monstrous end of the new Bug roster.

How big is Tropical Terror?

Slitherine’s most useful comparison is Urban Onslaught. The publisher says Tropical Terror is comparable in size to that expansion, and both campaigns are built around nine story missions.

That makes Urban Onslaught a pretty good piece of homework while we wait. Instead of jungle fighting, it focuses on battles inside the sprawling city of Mahanagar, so it shows how Terran Command handles a campaign built around a strong environmental identity and a substantial set of new scenarios.

Tropical Terror also follows The Eradicators, released earlier in 2026, which leaned heavily into Territory Mode. The upcoming expansion looks much more story-driven again while still adding more material to that replayable mode.

Terran Command for around $3? Yep, that got our attention

There is another pretty good reason to look at Starship Troopers: Terran Command right now. During our September 25 marketplace check, current G2A.COM offers for the base game were hovering around the $3 mark.

That is the sort of price that makes a new DLC announcement considerably more interesting if Terran Command has been sitting somewhere on your strategy-game backlog. Tropical Terror is not available yet, but the base campaign and three existing expansions already give you plenty of Bugs to shoot while you wait.

If Tropical Terror has put you back in the mood for Bug hunts, base building, and watching tiny squads fire an unreasonable quantity of ammunition, these are good places to continue:

Vega-V is going to need a lot more ammunition

Tropical Terror has a pretty easy pitch: take Terran Command’s firing-line tactics, drop them into a jungle, give the Federation some weird new hardware, then invent four more Bugs specifically designed to ruin everyone’s afternoon.

The nine-mission campaign and Urban Onslaught comparison suggest this is one of the more substantial additions to the game, and the extra Territory Mode content should give returning players something beyond the story campaign too.

For newcomers, though, the funniest part may be the timing. Tropical Terror is coming, the existing DLC library is already sizable, and the base game is currently hanging around pocket-change territory on G2A.COM. Service guarantees citizenship. Apparently three bucks can get the paperwork started.
