If you’ve always found it cumbersome to launch external software whenever you want to record your Steam games, you’re in luck!

Steam Game Recording is a new feature available for games with Steam Overlay support. It will allow you to record gameplay as easily as you take screenshots, and includes simple editing tools and a highlight feature letting you find clip-worthy moments quickly.

There’s even a specialized Timeline feature, which will automatically mark special moments for compatible games, such as achievements, screenshots, or more unique events specified by the games’ developers. And if all of that wasn’t enough, this feature is available on Steam Deck, so you don’t need to sacrifice comfort for clips!

It probably won’t be up to the highest standards achievable by dedicated apps, but if you’re looking for a simple and convenient recording solution, it should be solid, especially with support for nVidia and AMD graphics cards which should be able to shoulder the burden fairly easily.
